District headquarters and the only municipality in Mulugu district; it lies on the main Warangal-Bhadrachalam road and its bus stand handles about 20,000 passengers a day. Mulugu district has the highest rural share of any Telangana district - 96.1% rural at the 2011 census, with only 11,493 people in urban areas - which is why so few urban trading settlements appear in it.
