Municipality of Medak district on NH-44, upgraded from a major gram panchayat, and headquarters of the Toopran revenue division. Telugu Wikipedia dates the village to the Kakatiya period, records that it later formed part of the Donthi samsthanam and lay on the boundary between the Donthi and Waddepalli samsthanams, and states it 'flourished as a good trading centre' in that era; commercial development has since spread west towards NH-44. A weekly santha, banks and multiple trading firms are recorded, and an Rs 11 crore veg / non-veg market was opened in the municipal centre. Toopran lies 6 km from the Nachagiri hill temple at Nacharam where an Arya Vysya satram is registered. No Arya Vysya institution in Toopran itself is attested.
