Tummapala
Village
Anakapalli district
Andhra Pradesh
Named in the 1907 gazetteer (p.64) as an important cattle fair, 'just north of Anakapalle'. Madras District Gazetteers, Vizagapatam Vol. I (1907), Occupations and Trade, p.130-131: 'In the plain taluks, the greater part of the trade is in the hands of the Komati caste' (Komati = Arya Vysya), with Kapus, Balijas, Pattu Sales and Devangas taking a smaller share and a few Marwaris in the bigger towns financing operations. Modern mandal assignment inferred from the gazetteer's description and not re-verified against a current LGD record.
