1905 Madras District Gazetteer, Ch. XV, p. 154, verbatim: 'There are no temples of architectural merit in Gooty... The Komatis have built a new temple to their patron goddess Kanyaka Paramesvari. The mass of the people pay their chief allegiance to the Ellamma and Mariamma temples.' The volume's own index (p. 210) reads 'Komatis, their temple to Kanyaka Paramesvari at Gooty, 154; and Tadpatri, 202.' This is one of only two Komati/Arya Vysya temples documented anywhere in the 1905 district gazetteer. No founder or trustee is named in the source. Continued existence in the present day is NOT verified here.

1905 gazetteer p. 154: built at a cost of Rs.33,000, 'For the upkeep of these an endowment in land and money of Rs.2,049 per annum was granted. Part of this was originally expended in feeding travellers in the chattram... the feeding of travellers was discontinued.' Gazetteer p. 75 records it as the only one of the district's fifteen Local Board choultries with any endowment. NOT a community-specific institution - it is a British-era public chattram named for Sir Thomas Munro - recorded here as documented choultry infrastructure, not as an Arya Vysya foundation.
