Khammam (Khummettu) was one of the circars merged in 1866 to form Warangal district, one of the taluks of the 1905 Warangal district, and became a separate district on 1 October 1953. 2011 census urban agglomeration population 313,504. The historical series in the Wikipedia article runs 9,117 (1911), 28,251 (1951), 198,620 (2001). No Arya Vysya sangam or satram inside Khammam city is named by any source consulted; the erstwhile Khammam district's one recorded Arya Vysya satram is at Bhadrachalam.
