Khammam (Khummettu) was one of the circars merged in 1866 to form Warangal district, one of the taluks of the 1905 Warangal district, and became a separate district on 1 October 1953. 2011 census urban agglomeration population 313,504. No Arya Vysya sangam or satram inside Khammam city is named by any source consulted; the erstwhile Khammam district's one recorded Arya Vysya satram is at Bhadrachalam.
